CPAP Specialist (Durable Medical Equipment – Respiratory Care)

Position Summary

Hometown Healthy Living is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused CPAP Specialist to join our team in Chillicothe, MO. This role is responsible for assisting patients by providing education, equipment fit and setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing support to ensure compliance and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in collaboration with the referring source to obtain and complete all required documentation for reimbursement.
• Work directly with patients to fit equipment & ensure compliance. 
• Manage verbal and electronic requests for medical equipment 
• Confirm insurance eligibility, co-pays & effective dates of coverage
• File & retain documents based on regulatory requirements 
• Arrange for the delivery of products
• Contact insurance providers & clients regarding payments  

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required 
• Demonstrate basic accounting skills
• Must be organized and demonstrate strong clerical skills. 
• Independent problem resolution
• Proficient Computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook & the ability to learn health information systems
• Knowledge of medical terminology & equipment preferred
• Prior experience in DME, respiratory care, sleep medicine, or healthcare preferred
• Knowledge of CPAP/BiPAP equipment and supplies strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Certifications (if applicable)

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Sleep Technician or related certification

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs
• Ability to demonstrate equipment use to patients
